Opinion | Its time for White Flints last building to be razed

Publish date: 2024-08-08

The destruction of White Flint Mall’s last building is long overdue. This has been an eyesore for the past few years. The site was overgrown with weeds and trash trees. Before the access road that led to White Flint Plaza was closed (causing locals to lose a handy shortcut), people were dumping old mattresses and junk along the side of the road. Once the road was fenced off from the public, vandals began breaking the windows of Lord & Taylor and spray-painting graffiti as invasive vines crawled up the sides of the ruins. The entire place began to resemble the opening scene in a horror/disaster movie. Occasionally, a few boards would be nailed over the smashed windows; nevertheless, it was a shameful mess.
